Mele Community and Recreation Center (pole barn) in Majestic Park will become a multi-use space open to the public. The pole barn is currently used for a six-week Gardiner summer recreation program that runs from July to August. The men’s bathrooms require stall dividers and the women’s bathroom requires accessories such as toilet paper holders and soap dispensers. The work would require the installation of a usable kitchen. The site also requires security, internet and insulation upgrades. Town Supervisor Marybeth Majestic said the town will write out the scope of work and put it out to bid. The 5,000-square-foot space was commissioned in 2013. n Shawangunk Board to discuss findings of survey The Shawangunk Town Board will be holding a meeting/hearing on April 25, at 7 p.m. , to discuss the results of the two open house meetings which were held to obtain public comments with regard to the growth, preservation and future evolution of the Town’s hamlets, Walker Valley and Wallkill. Nelson, Pope & Voorhis, will present the public survey and workshop results. Most participants were residents, and there were responses provided from local businesses and employees as well. The results are being made available at the Town of Shawangunk website.shawangunk.org. n Gardiner to fill town board vacancy The Gardiner Town Board is seeking candidates to fill the Town Board vacancy. Interested parties should contact Supervisor Majestic at supervisor.tog@gmail. com. Deadline for applications is May 7. n rehab; five two- to four-bedroom cabins, one bunkhouse; and a 2,000-square-foot storage building, according to the site description from Cricket Hill auctioneers. The site also includes parking, fields and flats areas for building, hiking trails, more than 1,000 feet of river frontage, three productive wells and more. Senior Auctioneer William Jarema said the benefit of the property is it has many different uses. “While its been approved to run as a camp and retreat center, it could be used for any number of other purposes,” Jarema said. The site operated as a summer camp and year-round conference and retreat center from the 1960s to 2011 and has been well maintained ever since. Site visits are by appointment only or the site visit days of April 29 and the tentative date of May 8 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Bids are due by May 22 at 5 p.m. n Egg your neighbor! The Circleville Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary is giving residents an opportunity to “egg a neighbor” on Easter morning. For a donation of $20, they will “egg” the house of one’s chosing, with plastic eggs filled with sweet treats scattered in the yard on Easter morning. You can shoose to have your own house “egged” or surprise a friend, family member or neighbor. The recipient of being egged must reside within the Circleville Fire District. Call 361-7169 to sign up. n Wallkill Lions Club to host annual Easter Egg Hunt The annual Wallkill Easter Egg Hunt, hosted by the Wallkill Lions will take place on Saturday, April 20, on the grounds of the Wallkill Library. The fun starts at 9:30 a.m., with face painting and games too. n Gardiner to fix its roads The Gardiner Highway Department will repave six town roads this year. The highway department will repave Amani Drive, Denniston Road, Burnt Meadows Road, Deyo Drive, Majestic Woods Drive and Scenic Ridge Road. The project will cost $250,000, $150,000 of which will come from the capital improvement fund, and the other $100,000 will come form unexpended highway fund balance, Highway and Roads Superintendent Brian Stiscia said. Stiscia said he plans to complete the roads this year. “If the weather is good, we’ll get it done,” Stiscia said. n Summer camp for sale A 40-acre summer camp in Pine Bush has recently been put on the market in a sealed bid auction. Located at 450 Walker Valley Road, the property includes a 10,000-square-foot dining hall and multi- purpose building which has been gutted and is ready for Clarification The April 10 edition of the Wallkill Valley Times stated Village of Montgomery Mayor Stephen Brescia received a salary of $12,485 in 2018-19 and $14,485 in 19-20, a 16 percent increase. This figure did not include two appropriations allocated to the mayor in the water and sewer funds, which totaled $1,872 in 2018-19 and $2,870 in 19-20, bringing his salary to $14, 357 and $17,355, respectively, a 20.9 percent increase.
