The Analytic Reporting Service has been available since 2011 as part of the utility’s Insurance and Retirement Processing Services business. ARS takes in data from the Financial Activity Reporting feed and provides reports that offer benchmarks to members based on real transactional activity. NSCC said its members have asked for an expanded offering that incorporates more data into ARS that will take into account more member transactions (other than those transmitted via FAR) and provide a broader view of industry transactions. As FAR only accounts for transactional data between members, NSCC said it will allow members to send data for transactions that they do with firms that are not already members of the Insurance & Retirement Processing Services unit. Non-members will also be able to transmit data to the utility. NSCC said all the data, from members and non-members, will be identified as data submitted to the utility for the ARS and will not be used or disclosed other than for the service. Users of the service submitting the data must ensure that they have the right to submit the data and that no additional permissions are needed in order to allow the data to be used for the service, NSCC noted. TECHNOLOGY Aite preps report on holistic surveillance A soon-to-be released report from the Aite Group will examine trading surveillance offerings in the context of the trends and regulations surrounding surveillance set to come into effect in the near-future, according to Aite Group analyst, Danielle Tierney. In an interview, Tierney said adopting a front to back, whole office surveillance capability is the best approach. “All in one, front to back is very important… but it’s also extremely important to have a solution that’s flexible and reactive,” she added.
