WHOA Show Series August 14 , 2022 • Brownsville , Kentucky

There we go ! On the road again to Brownsville on a slightly cloudy overcast day but no rain is forecast . Oh wait ! Seven drops just hit the windshield ! That ’ s it , rain scare is over .
The first class is Trail . Yesterday we had 19 entries and thought that was a tremendous class . Welllll today 27 horses worked the trail class . We have the old faithful who can always be counted on to be in the top money but I was very impressed with how much some of the horses have improved challenging some of the usual top winners . First money in the trail Class was $ 135 !! I think I would spend time practicing the obstacles for this kind of cash . A gate and a few poles are all you need to practice . Oh and lots of patience — slow and easy — does it . Jerky hands and spurs are not needed when you start as the horse has to learn what you want .
We finished that large class and descended the hill to start the rail classes but were delayed a few minutes as the USDA had arrived and needed to get set up . I swear I think they are following me ! All in all they were very nice to work with . I saw no trailers leaving nor were any entries missing from any classes . After the 27 horses in trail the weanling were lacking in quantity but certainly made up for with quality . Three darling foals strutted their stuff for Judge , Michael Chandler who handled the judging job with proficiency and skill .
The youth classes are always filled in Kentucky . Missing from the youth classes was Jamison Woosley who has almost aged out and is off to college ! Where does the time go ? Carver ’ s presence filled the absent spot that Jamison left and the Woosley legacy continues . It was good to see Terry Doyle with his string of nice horses . Terry had missed a few shows due to family health issue so it was very nice to visit with him and watch his horses perform . One hundred ninety entries made the gate call on Sunday . Down from Saturday but we did not offer versatility classes with the exception of the well filled trail class + it is Sunday . Four hundred sixty seven entries for a two day show ain ’ t bad folks !
Next stop for the Tommy and Sis farewell tour will be Gallatin , Tennessee October 8th . Bring your best flat shod horse and compete with the best . For more details check with the WHOA Office 615 494 8822 !.
