The beautiful Sumner County Fairgrounds came to life once again when the Walking Horse Owners Association hosted a terrific show on the long dormant grounds May 15th Thank you to Bonnie and Chip Carrier for their hard and persistent work in obtaining the use of the fairgrounds for a walking horse show . The Carriers ’ hard work paid off . Hesitant at first to approve a walking horse show , the Fairgrounds CEO attended and sanctioned the event . ! It was very special to see the show grounds alive with excitement and such high quality walking horses . The Sumner County Fairgrounds brings back many fond memories for several who were present .
The horses looked absolutely wonderful with some classes having 3-4-5 World Champions competing against each other . The stiff competition made Dee Dee Miller ’ s job as judge a difficult one as any of the talented horses could have walked out with the blue .. A tribute to not only the judging but to all who worked so hard behind the scenes and at the show ; we heard not one complaint ! The entire day was just about perfect . Mother Nature sent us one of her special days , then have I mentioned what thrilling horses competed ?, or that the youth turned out in force or that the academy classes were well attended ? and on and on . One hundred thirty eight NICE walking horses came thru the gates to thrill the spectators . Thank you to everyone who brought horses . Thank you to others who might have helped in whatever capacity . WHOA could not have done it without your help . The rejuvenation of the Gallatin Horse Show was a tremendous success .
