What is it about the Tennessee Walking Horse that ’ s made it your breed of choice ? I was fascinated when I read about their gait , when I rode my first one I was hooked .
When did you start showing ? 1985
What do you enjoy most about showing ? The quest to achieve perfection .
What else do you do with your horses ( i . e . trail riding , breeding , etc .)? Gary & I breed some mares , we usually raise one or two foals a year .
How many horses do you have now ? Around 20 .
What is your favorite memory from your time in the breed ? Raising my good mare “ She ’ s Doubly Delightful ” then raising her foal “ Allen ’ s Danni Delight .” Having them in the show ring together at the 2019 International .
What are your horse-related goals ? To make my horses as good as they can be and to have fun doing it .
What walking horse industry associations do you belong to and have you held any leadership positions ? I have memberships with the Tennessee Walking Horse Breeders ’ and Exbibitors ’ Association , Walking Horse Owners ’ Association , Four Beats for Pleasure , and the Plantation Pleasure Walking Horse Association of North Carolina . I have been treasurer and Vice President of our local clubs .
Is there anything else you ’ d like our readers to know ? What I enjoy most is working with young horses , I love to watch them grow and develop over time , I have fun watching horses that I have owned give joy to new owners .
