Keeping up with new information can save you money , solve problems you ’ ve been having , and could make your horse happier .

To say 2020 was a challenge would be a gross understatement for most of us . Now that it ’ s 2021 we can said , here are some creative new year ’ s resolutions especially for horse people .
Ride more often
Whether it ’ s one more ride a week or one more ride a month , additional time in the saddle is always a good thing . Not only will riding more often help you to acheive your equestrian goals , it will also likely improve your mood and lower your stress level . It ’ ll also make your horse happier . Keep track of your riding , and it ’ ll help keep you motivated .
Work on an emergency fund
Horses are extremely unpredictable and they are not always the best decision makers . We all know there ’ s a high probability our horses will get sick or injured at some point in their lives , usually on a weekend or holiday incuring additional emergency vet fees . If you can put away some extra funds it will help soften the ecomonic blow .
Record yourself riding once a month Videos can be motivating . They show you what you need to work on and they show you the progress you ’ ve made since your last recording . They are a great way to check your posture , technique , and your horse ’ s movement .
Clean out your tack box , tack room , or trailer
“ A place for everything and everything in its place ” is a great motto to start the New Year off right . Go through all your old tack and equipment and throw out the broken items , sell anything you don ’ t use anymore or donate some stuff to a horse rescue or therapeutic riding program . There ’ s nothing more satisfying than opening a neatly organized tack box , tack room , or trailer .
