WHOA Show July 4, 2020 • Brownsville, Kentucky WHOA did it again! A HOT 4th of July at Brownsville, Kentucky brought out 284 entries to vie for top honors. Everyone can expect it to be hot on the 4th of July. If you were expecting it you did not get disappointed! Last week it was mud ---this Saturday a hot dust bowl but once again no one complained. In my opinion everyone is just so glad to be able to get out and see their friends and enjoy watching the GOOD Tennessee Walking Horses they didn’t mind the weather conditions. I soaked my white top in oxi clean for several hours in an attempt to return it to its white condition----success!!!! Haven’t tried the shoes YET! The Judge, Jessica Hlebak not only improved the appearance of the ring with her pretty self but did (imo) an outstanding job of judging. NICE JOB, Jessica. Again the Tri-County Mounted Search & Rescue Team provided very tasty concessions which were much appreciated by all in attendance. Nice to see Rachel Cowels finish her youth exhibitor year out in blue ribbon style. Rachel and El’s A Poppin won 5 blues before she had to leave and report to the ER for duty. And although she has officially finished her 12 years in school she has yet to graduate. It is a sad state of affairs for so many of our seniors in these troubling times. Rachel will be attending college and continuing her work this fall if the colleges re-open! The Gernt family was on hand to celebrate with friends and horses. Papa Gernt won back to back weanling classes with the pretty walking bay colt, Pilgrim On Parole. Enjoyed watching Lindsay Atkins and her International and Celebration Champion Cash Me Outside win. Then when she was finished showing Lindsay came over to help give out the ribbons. I am not sure who told the young ladies to help out this mature old doll BUT bless you whoever you may be. It sure helps not to go UP and DOWN those steps at each class. Breanna—Finley--Hallie—Hannah and Lindsay all popped in and out to help on the blistering hot day. Girls you were much appreciated and I thank you from the bottom of my heart. So many drove so long to be able to show---it does my heart good to see everyone. The Louis Highfields from Ohio—Donna and Chuck Bray with the Lookout Hills Stables entourage of young female riders who showed in multiple classes all turned out in their finery. Regulars; Whispering Wind Stables always bring good spotted walking horses to the WHOA Shows. The Jamie Woosley family can be counted on to support the shows with their nice horses. The Kirkland crew always add interesting effects to the show as well as bringing horses for all classes. J & T Stables, Terry Doyle, Steve Ponder , William A Flowers can always be counted on to show up with horses that leave the ring earning NICE ribbons. So many of you support WHOA with such great loyalty I don’t want to leave any one out and please know we appreciate your efforts to show with us in all kinds of weather. WHOA looks forward to the Kentucky circuit. Keep em coming! – Sis Osborne Three generations of the Starnes family celebrated the Fourth of July in style. Special thanks to Larry and Linda for their hard work on the showgrounds. The Lookout Hills Stables crew all the way from Burlington, Kentucky. Chuck and Donna Bray put award-winning horses in the ring all day long. 20 • Walking On
