WHOA Show
June 27, 2020 • Brownsville, Kentucky
WHOA held a SHOW Saturday
June 27 in Brownsville Kentucky.
I continue to be amazed by the
WHOA members and exhibitors.
What should have been a WASH
OUT proved to be a WOW out!
Two hundred sixty two entries vied
for honors in some pretty adverse
conditions. Two hundred sixty
two entries, without our versatility
classes (with the exception of the
trail class)!!!!! AMAZING! A note
of interest---there were no classes
with no entries!!! Thank you owners,
trainers, exhibitors--- you are wonderful.
The Tri-County Mounted
Search & Rescue Team did a marvelous
job as the new concession team.
Fried pies, sliced shoulder, fried
baloney were just a few of the tasty
items offered at a very reasonable
rate. Thank you to the Tri-County
Mounted Search and Rescue team
for an excellent job.
Eli Murphy, as judge handled the
adverse conditions AND the ring
after ring of excellent walking horses
capably and with expertise. The best
helper and ribbon girl, Emma Murphy
waded thru thick mud ruining
her shoes to give out ribbons with a
big smile for the winners the entire
show. THANK YOU Eli and little
sister, Emma. You were incredible.
Rain proved an added obstacle
in the first class, which was the trail
Class, as it poured down accompanied
by gusting winds, however this
did not deter the 19---yep 19---entries
that competed for that elusive
blue ribbon. The rain continued off
and on for about 2 hours but I never
heard one single complaint! The
folks had their happy faces covered
with masks on and were excited to
be showing once again.
Several new faces on the WHOA
show circuit were in evidence at
Brownsville. Cute little Halle Beard
from Abilene Texas made her presence
known as she piloted Ranger
to good ribbons for proud GRANDdaddy,
J.D. Harber. It was so good
to see my buddy enjoying the horses
without having to worry about
crowd control. Another good thing
to observe is the friendship that the
horse show circuit provides. Haley
and Finley New competed against
each other and were proud as punch
when whomever won. Fierce competitors
in the ring and best buds
out of the ring. HOW NICE!
Tiffany and Alan Calender with blue ribbon
winner I’m Harley Quinn.
The honorable Eli Murphy and
great trooper Emma Murphy.
Debbie and Ronnie Smothers
had a great day winning lots of ribbons.
Kim Richwine with
Alexander Hamilton’s blue.
18 • Walking On
Amanda Gipson with yearling,
Nacho Classic Roan.
Multi blue ribbon winnder Annie’s Silver Dream
with happy owner/rider Ann Johnson
and equally tickled traner, BJ Richards.
