Charles & Betty Tisher
The 2019 International
Grand Championships was
dedicated to longtime sup-
porters of the Tennessee
Walking Horse and Walking
Horse Owners’ Association,
Charles and Betty Tisher.
Married for 67 years, the
Tishers have spent their lives
striving to serve. They are
both dedicated volunteers.
Best known within WHOA for his 30 years of ser-
vice in center ring at the Association’s biggest shows,
Charles is a well-honored devotee of our breed. He is a
TWHNC Hall of Fame inductee, Friend of the Walk-
ing Horse Trainers’ Association, and former board
member for the Tennessee Walking Horse Breeders’
and Exhibitors’ Association. He is proud to have
worked alongside our industry’s most accomplished
announcers, including Emmitt Guy, Bobby Sands,
Cliff Gillespie, Chip Walters, and Mark Farrar.
With the enduring support of Betty, Charles has
held numerous positions beyond the realm of our
industry. He has enjoyed an over 50 year insurance
career and over 50 years as a Rotarian. He has served
as Chairman of the March of Dimes, President of Co-
lumbia American Little League, and of the Columbia
Babe Ruth league. He also served 25 years on the
Maury County Commission.
Together, Charles and Betty volunteer at Maury
Regional Hospital in Columbia, Tennessee. They are
the proud parents of one son, Tim. Tim and his wife,
Tammy, have given
the Tishers two
amazing grandchil-
dren, Destin and
Daylen.
