EARLY to set the courses. Folks, please please extend a thank you to Larry Starnes, Vic Gernt, Scott Keen and Dan Starnes for their invaluable help. I should also add their invaluable FREE help. Personally I could not survive Sunday without these trust worthy guys, who give so freely of their muscles and very seldom rant and rave at me if my math isn’t just exactly the correct degree or if I told them to bring 20 poles but in actuality I needed 28!!! You all know I am not good with degrees and they just put up with me. Thank you is not ENUFF but THANKS We were so glad to see the entries were up and new exhibitors gracing the rings. A new “added” (imagine that!) class, the In Hand Trail had 9 entries. Pretty dang good for the first time. Jo Boucher with Enchanter’s MG claimed the Trail Adult Open for the 2nd year in a row and added her name one more time to the beautiful Ada Wright Challenge Trophy donated in honor of this lovely lady by her family. Jo and Enchanter’s MG also were repeat winners in the Working Planta- tion. The Working Planation consists of five different classes with the team obtaining the top average score being named the winner. Gambler’s Choice broke the serious competition and brought the house down with the speed and daring of the exhibitors. This class was won by Tracy Pinson with Tuff Night At The Ritz. Tracy has excelled in this interest- ing event since its inception maybe 5 years ago. Starting the night session was a very colorful costume class with another repeat winner. Sporting a new costume was Marilyn Carter with a group of colorful people with Eminent Danger being the most colorful. The Yearling Filly and Gelding Class had 19 awesome entries. The largest number seen at a show this year!!!!! WOW! Keep ‘em coming! The win- ner of this oh so competitive class was Dog Gone Girl Is Mine with the so attractive Kelly Richards at the lead. 20 classes followed and believe it or not the 11 and Under class led with the most entries. Go young riders!!!!! El’s A Poppin and Rachel Cowles dominated the youth versatile events with smooth rides in Egg and Spoon plus a speedy run in the Stake Race. While several of the International Classes are “fun” classes the compe- tition is fierce and there are no holds barred in the quest for the blue. Egg and Spoon is one such event. The judges, after a smooth ride by several were forced to take drastic measures and called for the exhibitors to place the spoon holding the egg in their mouth!!!! Daniel Starnes, PhD, was the smoothest of the 5 adults. Tracy Pinson and Tuff Night At The Ritz dominated the speed events. This dynamic duo are “tuff ” competition in any class. They were blazing in the speed events! The paddock area is so important to the smooth running of a show. Allie Merritt and Tina Singleton kept the entries in on time and in a very orderly fashion. I didn’t hear any complaints. Kelly Featheringhill helped when time permitted. A big ole thanks to these hard working ladies. Beauty was the order for DAY 4 and at the end of Monday 339 entries were totaled for beauty day with a total of 728 for the International so far. Model Day began with 11 beautiful mares with handlers equally as lovely entering the ring. MTSU Chevy’s Lady Raider led expertly by handsome Jeremy Carlton was the winner. This good looking team also won reserve in 13
