WHOA Service Horse School
June 12-16, 2019 • Franklin, Tennessee
Held June 12-16 and, 2019 and held at Williamson Ag. Center in Franklin, Tennessee, the WHOA Service Horse
School attracted participants from around the country. Instructors included retired Mounted Patrol Sergeants
J.D. Harber and Terry Palmer, retired Mounted Patrol Lt. Richard Verbosky, County Mounties Search and Rescue
Director Lawrence Beal, and retired Tennessee State Park Ranger Kenny Daniel. The cirriculum at this year’s school
featured instruction in formation riding, obstacle riding, de-spooking, working events, dignitary protection, vehicle
escort, crowd management, self-defense, emergency first aid for horses, and search and rescue. At the end of the
event, a competition was held so that participants could practice what they learned. All in all, this year’s edition of
the WHOA Service Horse School was both fun and informative.
