WHOA Versatility Show November 9, 2019 • Brownsville, Kentucky The next to last of the WHOA / KEEPS Show is here. Is it COLD in Kentucky? You bet your sweet bippy--- but hey we are horse show folks and we are READY!!! Peggy Moore is doing the judging today. Ms Moore is very knowledgeable and efficient, placing ‘em as she sees ‘em in the class and how the standard for that particular class is set. On a beautiful day the Edmonson County Fair- grounds is so picturesque. Reminds me of the horse show grounds many, many a year ago where Dad and I showed Fancy Pants!!! Those Kentucky shows were al- ways held on the most attractive sites. At the time I didn’t realize their charm and beauty but Brownsville brings back great memories. The activities today will create memories for the long winter when I will be missing my Kentucky horse friends. To my surprise and delight 202 entries made the gate call. The weather forecast had predicted 29 degrees and it amazed me to see all the exhibitors with their nice but beginning to get wooly horses that graced the grounds. True, scarves, layers, and earmuffs were in clear evi- dence but the bundles didn’t slow the exhibitors down! And the fuzzy horses walked just as nicely! Once again the youth outdid the adults in numbers of entries in a class. Eleven hard riding youth in the All Day Pleasure Class and an equally filled 4 H Class were a welcome sight. Youth are of course the future of any industry and the youth support our Industry with great enthusiasm. Edmonson County 4 H members manned the con- cession and kept us fortified with hot beverages. In spite of the fact that it was bitter cold by the end of the show, folks were in a good humor eagerly looking forward to the show the next day. I must give a shout out to the 4 H of Edmonson County and their infallible leader,Tracy Mitchell. All show season they have carried the Judges cards, given ribbons, run class sheets to me and the DQP, cooked food and manned the concessions. They deserve a lot of credit for the success of the Brownsville Shows as does Larry Starnes for his work prior and post show. WHOA thanks them. Trust me we couldn’t do it without you. – Sis Osborne 12 • Walking On Brandon May and Blues American Woman. The Starnes Grandchildren - Jack on Belle of Rocky Hill, Laura and Hannah.
