WHOA Versatility Show & Show Series Show
November 10 & 11, 2018 • Brownsville, Kentucky
The final WHOA shows for 2018
in Kentucky proved to be very suc-
cessful in spite of the extreme cold.
I thought our fearless leader might
have lost his ever lovin’ mind when
he texted me “Show’s On”!!! But 180
enters for Saturday and an impres-
sive entry total for Sunday proved
once again that Tommy made the
correct decision and Sis is a wimp!
Thank you to the Starnes family
for making Saturday a honey of a
show!! Each winner received a jar
of Honey from Poppy’s Honey. As
Fall approaches the WHOA exhibi-
tors start texting me, “Is this one to
Honey Show??” The exhibitors pull
out all the stops to try to get a jar of
honey. Lucky are the ones that go
home with the tasty honey!
Another Thank You goes out to
the Edmondson County Saddle
Club for providing delicious chili,
made by Carolyn Gernt, and tortel-
lini soup and brownies made by Lori
Finch, who is also a great photogra-
pher. The Saddle Club furnished the
utensils and trimmings for the chili
and soup. The food was delicious
and FREE to any and all. Thanks
to everyone who contributed the
food. It warmed our hearts and souls
and filled us with gratitude. Food
is always the way to Sissi’s heart.
Thank you to Randy Laurentius for
bringing the sharp yummy Boudain
all the way from Missouri and to Dr.
Dan Starnes for the absolutely best
sourdough bread that went perfect-
ly with the honey provided by his
father, Larry Starnes.
It was exciting to see sooo many
youth in the ring on both days. On
Saturday there were seven in the
16 • Walking On
All Day Pleasure (won my Wicked
Times and Mallory Johnson) and
eight in the Youth Country Pleasure
(son by Lindsay Atkins aboard Jose
In Grey). Lindsay rode 12 hours to
participate in the last of the WHOA
Versatility Show Series, all the way
from Rixeville, Virginia. Jose In
Gray is owed by Susan Smith who
won the Country Pelasure Amateur
English/Western class. Thanks for
driving the distance to close out the
season in grand style!
On Sunday each of the youth
classes were well filled. Mallory
Johnson and Wicked Times claimed
another blue in the 4H Youth Flat
Shod class while Emma Easley and
She Walks Like An Angel walked to
victory in the All Day Country Plea-
sure Youth class. Other youth win-
ners included Hannah Starnes and
Belle Of Rocky Hill in the Flat Shod
Youth 11 & Under class, Mallory
Johnson and More Than Smooth in
the Country Pleasure Youth class,
and Kate Ford and Coach’s Charm
in the Trail Pleasure Youth class.
Kate and her sisters, Shelby and
Allie, had a heck of a show. In addi-
tion to her blue, Kate directed Coach
Saban to a third place tie and Shoot
For The Stars to a fifth. Shelby rode
Dialed In to a reserve tie and Blue
Moonstone to a fourth place finish
while Allie and Coach Saban waked
to a reserve tie. Congratulations to
each of these young riders.
Thanks to all who braved the
COLD to come close out the season
with WHOA. You have been won-
derful to support us thru WIND--
-RAIN--- COLD-STORMS--- and
whatever weather has been thrown
at us. Your support means every-
thing to us. We are so proud to be
a part of the WHOA family!!! YOU
and your encouragement, support,
sponsorships and most of all, your
loving friendships are the reason we
have these shows.
