WHOA Kentucky Downs / WHOA Versatility Show
Franklin, KY / Brownsville, KY
April 29 & 30
The start of the WHOA SHOW CIRCUIT was a
gutsy one for sure. At Franklin, Kentucky the winds
were straight line and so fierce that they blew the papers
everywhere making it difficult for Tommy to tell who
was aboard what horse as he had no paperwork much
of the time. The winds were so strong that they knocked
out the public address system adding to the fun of the
day. However 106 really nice walking horses came thru
the gate to be capably judged by Candy Kluth.
The following day at Brownsville there were 172
good entries. Again the weather played havoc with the
show, promising but thankfully not delivering a tor-
nado. We did experience torrential rain and STRONG
winds causing the show to be called with several classes
yet to be held. Judge Sandy Harris and Apprentice Judge
Connie Holbrook did great quickly making capable
decisions in an effort to move the show along before
the predicted tornado struck. With just a few classes left the rain from hades commenced with a bolt of light-
ning that had me saying “See Ya Boss Dude” as I left
the announcers stand (tin roof + all kinds of mechan-
ical equipment) at a hand gallop and headed for the
car only to realize MY seat was already taken by Judge
Sandy Harris. It was every woman for herself!! I stuffed
ribbons and papers in the back seat and flew in on top
of them as our fearless leader joined the Judge and me.
There was NO let up in the storm so we chose, for safe-
ty’s sake, to forego the rest of the show. HORSE SHOWS
ARE EXCITING.
We did have two extremely bright spots to celebrate
Mr. John Wright ‘s 90 birthday and our sweet little girl,
Shelby Finch turned 18. UNBELIEVABLE how time
flies. These two TWH enthusiasts can be counted on
to show up and help at nearly every WHOA Show. WE
could not function without you.

FLYING around celebrating her 18th BIRTHDAY
was SHELBY FINCH. Outstanding entry in the Lead Line were the duo of Amy Nance
with her precious GRANDdaughter.
