WHOA Versatility Show Perryville , Missouri • October 15

Story by Sis Osborne , Photos by Jodi DeDecker Bubar and Sis Osborne
The first ever WHOA Versatility Show held in Perryville , Missouri was a success in spite of Mother Nature trying to give us the boot . Saturday was a blistering 90 degrees followed by a windy wet Sunday at 56 degrees !!!!! However the enthusiastic walking horse exhibitors braved the weather and by show time Mother Nature realized she couldn ’ t run us off so she stopped the rain and just let the wind blow 50 miles an hour rather than 90 !!!! It was so much fun to see our friends in Missouri . Haven ’ t seen the Huck family in years and it was soooo very good to see them . THANK YOU , Becky for letting me have your pen !!! Missed the Lehman and Marlewski girls ( GUESS they are LADIES now !!! Not little girls any more ). A big shout out to Judge Darden Gladney who judged with expertise and efficiency and apprentice judge , Molly Lewis .
WHOA is blessed with volunteers who make it able for us to hold our shows with our limited staff . WHOA was especially grateful to Larry Starnes for bringing the trail obstacles , Debbie Birk for handling the entry “ desk ” ( those horse shoes helped hold the papers down but we did have to chase them a couple of times due to the WINDY conditions ), Charlie Brown for being “ gate man ” and the pretty ribbon girl / ring mistress , Jodi DeDecker Bubar .
The Perry Saddle Club grounds are picturesque and very user friendly with an all weather track so we were ready to ride if the rain continued . All of you know I LOVE to eat so the fact that the Perry County Saddle Club concession stand was awesome was doubly appreciated by some ! Fried fish ---very , very good---usual hotdogs and burgers , French fries ++++ HOME MADE DESSERTS . Very
similar to the concesions in Mt Veron , Ill , AWESOME !!!!
The Amateur / Amateur Class was wonderful . Combinations of father and son , grandfather and granddaughter , husband and wife and friends with friends just made the class so very special . Nine in the Model Class made the judging tough as well as 9 in the Egg and Spoon which was fun for all . Dennis Hill showed his skill in the H20 class by placing first making me wonder where he practices riding without spilling a drop ?????
This first ever Perryville Missouri WHOA Versatility Show just may be an annual event due to the friendly staff at the Saddle Club , great grounds , wonderful concessions AND the chance to visit with our Missouri , Kentucky and Illinois exhibitors . Thanks to all who came to show and a huge thanks to our willing volunteers !
Dennis Hill aboard Watch Out Her I Come . Susan Hill was also a blue ribbon winner . Jason Bachert congratulates the pair .
