WHOA Fall Classic • Franklin, TN October 22 Full results are available in our Show Results column. The WHOA Fall Classic, formerly titled the WHOA Summer Classic and originally planned for early summer with the high temperatures caused it to be re-scheduled, was held October 22 at the beautiful, historical Harlinsdale Farm. The day was almost as gorgeous as the surrounding scenery. Harlinsdale Farm was founded in 1933 by W. W. Harlin. In the mid1940s, the farm gained notability for being the home of Midnight Sun, a Tennessee Walking Horse stallion who won two World Grand Championships. Harlinsdale remained the property of the Harlin family until 2004, when it was sold to the City of Franklin for $8 million. The farm is now open to the public as a park. It was an honor for WHOA to be able to host the first Tennessee Walking Horse Show at the new Park at Harlinsdale Farm. Harlinsdale Farm is an icon of the Tennessee Walking Horse industry. It was a privilege for many of us to revisit or in some cases, visit for the first time, the home place of the great Midnight Sun. To be able to say that your horse walked on the same ground where Midnight Sun was ridden along the beautiful white fences was a thrill. Several walked to the front of the barn that has stabled so many world champions and famous breeding stallions, to view the graves of Midnight Sun and Gen.’s Major General. WHOA invites you to take your cell phone and take pictures at our next show held at The Park at Harlinsdale Farm of these two famous breeding stallions’ grave sites. The day was alive with excitement at just being on these hallowed grounds. I can not describe the magical feelings experienced by the exhibitors. Trust me when I tell you it was an awesome day and if you weren’t there you really should make plans to attend the next WHOA Show held at Harlinsdale and feel the magic. – Sis Osborne ©BARR STUDIOS 4. 4. 1. 5. 2. 6. ©BARR STUDIOS 3. 1.
