2016 International Pleasure & Colt Grand Championship Day 5 - WEDNESDAY Day 5 Starting off with the dogs---all sizes ---all ages ---68 dogs set yet another record for entries at the International. The Dog Show proved to be a fun and exciting venue. Best In Show was awarded to the Schunoodle ( a standard Schnauzer/Standard Poodle cross) Buddy expertly handled by Ben Bachert. The Bachert boys, Brady in the equine division and Ben in the canine division, are very talented trainers. An exciting Trick Dog Class was won by the brilliant Border Collie Spike with Marty Barr giving the commands.  Class after class is entering the horse division filled to the brim with fantastic walking horses. Folks, the horses being shown at the International are simply awesome. Never have I seen this many great walking horses. Again, IF you earned a ribbon here it is equal to a blue at any other show. On a side note - I don t think Jason was mad, he was just TRYING to show me where that gorgeous concho had fallen. ALL is GOOD. Remember, ribbons are awarded based on judges’ decisions and, while Show Management hires the judges, placings are ultimately the judges’ call. No matter the show, rest assured that show management is doing everything in their power to make that show a success for exhibitors, spectators, and everyone else. While it’s perfectly acceptable to express your concerns, and everyone is open to suggestions that could improve the event going forward, expressing appreciation and gratitude is also appropriate and welcomed. Above all, horse shows are supposed to be FUN! 12 • Walking On continued on pg. 16
