Cookeville Tennessee is traditionally one of the better shows for WHOA and this year proved to be no exception . The day was a scorcher but inside the Hyder-Burke Arena it is was bearable as the Big Ass Fans were going all day long to cool our big selves . A very nice turn out of excellent walking horses saw 179 making the gate call . The Cookeville Show draws entries from parts of eastern Tennessee . It is a treat to be able to visit with the Danny Reagan family and the Phil Snodgrass family and his customers . Both of these groups showed nice horses in several classes . I personally do not get to see the Reagans nor the Snodgrass crew often and I look forward to seeing them each year at this show . Kenny Estes also brought several horses to show and his mounts did well . John Dorris had an exceptional weanling on hand to take home the blue ribbon in the weanling class . Visiting and seeing my computer buddy from LA ( lower Alabama ) Jean Brannon was a treat indeed . Seeing her grinning as she exited the ring with a blue ribbon was icing on the cake .
Vic Gernt and his family helped to secure this fine facility for WHOA and we appreciate their help in having everything ready for the WHOA staff . I REALLY appreciate Carolyn sending the fruit and melon tray to center ring for us . Not only was it beautifully designed but it was cool and refreshing . THANK YOU ! It was fun to see young Blake Johnson ( 3rd Gernt generation ) compete with his sister , Mallory , in the Showmanship ring . Reminded me of days when Victor and Danielle competed against each other . AND then Victor ’ s pretty little girl stole the show as she rode in Lead-Line waving and squealing and flirting with everyone . Evie Gernt is quite the ham but a little doll , I don ’ t think she ever quit smiling .
THANKS to all of our exhibitors for helping to make this show a success one more time !
