Wins Big in Horse Show
McKenzie Vincent of park City and her walking horse Ariel won a total of
eight ribbons at the Walking Horse Owners Association’ Horse Show held at
Brownsville Fairgrounds on November 7. The show, which featured Tennessee
walking horses was the last show of the season for WHOA and featured several
different events including Showmanship, Pleasure Riding, Trail Obstacle and
more. The Show was hosted by the Edmonson County Saddle Club and drew
more than 200 entries from three states to compete in a total of 41 classes.
McKenzie is a freshman at Barren County High School and has been
showing horses since age eight. “I love going to horse shows because they are
fun and I get to meet so many nice people,” says McKenzie of the experience.
Another participant at the show was Hannah Catherine Starnes, Granddaughter of Linda and Larry Starnes of Edmonson whose grandaddy rode in
shows at the Fairgrounds many years ago. According to their latest head count
and as best as they can tell, the Starnes family has close to six horses. While the
riders were competing in the arena, Hannah was enjoying the crispy Fall day
and dried leaves like only a two-year old could.
