THE REAL STAR OF THE SHOW ? PIE . LOTS AND LOTS OF PIE .
“ We serve 27 different varieties of pie . I make all the pies fresh every morning … and a special new pie that I invent every day .”
The perpetually optimistic Jenna expresses her desires , hopes , frustrations , and fears through the delightful and eccentrically-named pies she creates every day .
As a little girl , Jenna learned everything about baking from her mother , who kept her in the kitchen to shield her from the tensions in their home . They ’ d sing a little song :
“ Let ’ s make a new one mama , what do you say ? I love it when you help me pick out the name .
Sugar , butter , flour … and mother .”
Jenna bakes “ unearthly ” and creative pies , spinning sugary spells to mend broken hearts , open a friend to her soul mate , and even ensnare a passionate love match — and savory pies to overpower unsavory frustrations and tragedies . All baked from the heart , Jenna ’ s pies are sweetened with kindness , bravery , and love .
MAKING STAGE PIES
For TCR ’ s production , we mix real pies from area pie shops ( and our own kitchens ) with imitation pies from shops across the country . Who knew Etsy had so many “ fake pie ” artisans ?
