On Thursday 27th September, at our monthly meeting at Marryshow House (every last Thursday from 4:30 p.m.), we held our yearly elections to select a new executive for the year 2018 to 2019. However, in the interest of the Association, we have decided to try something new. Read about our new executive structure below.
As we explained in our last issue (page 4, available here), the WAG Executive typically has at least 7 members, namely the President, Vice-President, Secretary, Assistant Secretary, Public Relations Officer, Treasurer, and an odd number of Floor Members.
We have used this executive structure since our inception, but this year, to maximize efficiency, we decided to pare down to core functions. Thus, the only two positions for the year 2018 to 2019 will be President and Secretary. Furthermore, the President shall change on a rotating basis every two or three months, allowing different individuals to work collectively towards the Association's goals.
Lastly, October has been full of writing and publishing events, including a Christian Writers' Meet-up, The Publishing Journey, the Aunty Tek Spice Word Festival, and Speak Words. While WAG did not organize any of these events, we attended and participated fully in the gathering of Grenadian minds as we shared our experiences.
