SEMINAR ON LIBRARY AND INFORMATION SCIENCE EDUCATION :
COLLABORATION AMONG ASEAN COUNTRIES
The seminar from 14-16 July 2013 was hosted by the School of Liberal Arts of the Sukhothai
Thammathirat Open University, Bangpod, Pak Kret, Nonthaburi, Thailand. It was attended by one
participant from each ASEAN member state and one from India, Japan and Taiwan respectively and
33 Thai LIS educators and Ph.D students. Pn Nellie DPH Sunny, BLA President represented
Brunei Darussalam.
The seminar was opened by Assoc. Prof. Chailerd Pinchipornchai, President Sukhothai Thammathirat
Open University pada 15 Julai 2013 dan declared closed by Prof. Patamapron Yenbamrung,
Chairman Organising Committee.
The seminar heard country updates followed by a lively discussion forum on five main areas of
possible collaboration i.e. Curriculum and Teaching, Education media, research in LIS, professional
development and resource sharing and other academic activities.
