South High Standout Student: W ith a schedule like this: Wind Symphony, dual credit English Composition, AP Statistics, AP Calculus BC, AP Government, and AP Chemistry, one would assume sixteen-year-old Patricia Betonio would be exhausted with all of the extra work and want her summers off to relax. Not this talented young lady, instead she applied for and earned a summer-long medical internship with the Cleveland Clinic as a researcher at the Lerner Research Institute. After being rejected as an intern for the summer of 2012, Patricia instead volunteered at the Cleveland Clinic three times a week filling stock and working in patient transport. During this time she met Dr. Steven Rosenblatt, a General Surgeon at the Clinic, who invited her to shadow him and witness several surgeries.
