District Website Gets a Facelift
Patrick McKinney, Director of Technology
In December, the Board of Education approved a contract for eSchoolview to redesign and host our district website. This supports the district’s goal of coordinating our marketing and communication efforts to be consistent across the district, and increasing our ability to share information about the district in a timely manner. The new website will be much easier to navigate and will provide a more organized way to present the information parents, staff, students, community members or visitors are seeking about our district. Input on the logo and website design was solicited through an online survey.
The design goals are to:
• Ensure that the site is user friendly and visually
appealing,
• Create an Intranet expressly for faculty and staff
content and links,
• Enable customization through a Content
Management System (CMS) for the district and
building pages,
• Provide better mobile site views that will be
accessible from IOS devices, Android Devices, and
others, and
• Establish a district brand or identity that is highly
recognizable utilizing a district logo and colors
consistently throughout the site.
Several companies were evaluated in order to select a vendor consistent with our goals. The companies that were evaluated included SchoolWorld (current vendor), SchoolPointe, Edline (Blackboard Engage), and eSchoolview. eSchoolview was selected for a number of reasons. They demonstrated the ability and proven experience to custom design a site to our specifications, and they are highly-regarded for their work with a solid reputation for producing quality products. They are located in Columbus so they are easily accessible to work with us face-to-face or online. In addition to the website redesign, eSchoolview makes available other services that will help us operate efficiently using the following website features: facilities management for booking meeting rooms, event registration, mobile suite and intranet.

”The new website will debut this summer and we have incorporated ideas provided by parents, staff, students and community members who responded to our survey."
