Nuestro Montevives
CULTURAL DIVERSITY MAKES US OPEN-MINDED
( by 2nd Year of Bachillerato D )
There are many international students in IES Montevives , which is not surprising , because there is a lot of immigration around the world . Changing schools is difficult for some , and it ’ s harder to change your country ; so , imagine having to travel to China and having to learn the language while you try to understand the subject . Not easy !
On the one hand , people from other countries , like our classmates from Bolivia , Colombia , Kenya and Morocco , usually experience different difficulties like the language barrier or rejection from other people just because they aren ' t from the same place . An example , in class , is Tyrone , as he has found it difficult to speak with his classmates , because he can only speak English and a very little Spanish . On the other hand , we can learn many things about them . Firstly , we can learn about their cultures and traditions . In addition , we can communicate in another language and practice ou
pronunciation , vocabulary … This is also a good idea to improve relationships . Moreover , this helps us to be openminded , because we can know their tastes that are different from ours and they can tell us about their typical foods from their country , for example . Tyrone gave us a presentation about Kenya and we all learned a lot .
All in all , if you had a classmate from another country , you would improve your language skills and you would also try to support them because they face a lot of obstacles in their daily life , and they deserve to be respected .
