The small and medium scale businesses were the biggest beneficiary, as demand for food and beverages and other amenities rose significantly due to the massive influx of people. This brings this town to life at the end of July for four days of beach-based activities, cultural events and musical shows for the whole family. All though this festival provides a variety of economic benefits to the area it has caused some negative impacts to the area too. In 2009 Hikka fest there was photos shown in mass media about the semi-nude women who were at the Hikka Fest started a huge conversation in the country. Some say that the photos were fake, and government was able to manage and give explanations to the situation. But it shows the threat which beache festivels like that can cause to our society. Sri Lanka is a country with a high cultural value and it has a variety of nationalities who think about the culture, customs and values very much. Some times the youth around the area will some tomes also try to imitate the bad and unwanted behaviors of the tourists and visitors who come to visit the HIKKA FEST. So these kinds of situations affect a lot to the protection of these values for our future generations. Apart from this another negative impact which can be arised due to these beach festivals is the spread of drugs, alchohol, prostitution and these may cause to arise of aggressive situations among the people who consume these things. So apart from having benefits such as economic develpment and infrastructure development, there can be a lot of negative impacts caused due to this. So the government must take proper actions to avoid these things and take the maximum benefits of it to the tourism development in the country as international beach festivals like HIKKA can be used as a main economic development tool in all the beautiful baeach sides in Sri Lanka.

To enhance this development and achieve more benefits from tourism industry the Sri Lanka Tourism beureaue , with the collaboration of the government has organize a variety of development projects through out the tourism zones in the Country. "HIKKA BEACHE FEST" is considered as one of the development projects which has been organized by the Sri Lanka Tourism Development authority.
