V O Y A G E U R 26 By-Edirimanna E.M.S.D s we have achieved some of the milestones of the 'Tourism Industry' we can move towards by expanding the opportunities we have. According to the statistics it was identified that most of the tourists are between age 16 and 24. So this seems a great achievement of us. With this approach we can enhance our capabilities by targeting the young generation. This will be easier as we are aware of social media and social networks. We are no more alone for the sake of the technology. We can communicate with any person in anywhere in the world. So, like this we can promote tourism with the help of these social networks (Face Book, Yahoo, Gmail, Twitter, and Skype). For an example, by creating Face Book page on tourism and create a network of fans that have an interest in Sri Lankan passion. Or else a blog can be written regarding 'Sri Lankan Values', 'Sri Lankan Culture' and Sri Lankan heritages to promote the identity of our motherland. Further it will be more benefited if the Hotel Industry can also link with these Social Networks and Face Book Pages. On the other hand that will be a competitive advantage for the entity as it is adding a value to their business in several ways. As the youth is more concern about new things and new technology we can use new A strategies to get their attention. Here attraction of the hotels plays an important role. The most important fact I like to highlight is, the large hotels as well as medium size hotels can enhance the business processes by getting the advantages of information technology. Further Customer Relationship Management Systems which are using public sector can be improved by to reduce the gap and interact with private sector to start a new journey to achieve the benefits of tourism. To target youth travelers our youth generation should be educated on the subject of tourism. So in this case we can start this from schools not in deep but in basic level. And then we can move in to our universities and there we can formulate a collaborative linkages and networks with the industry to enhance tourism development. The government also has a major role here. They can formulate an organization of young citizens who have a desire and knowledge on tourism and make them associate with foreign youth societies with the assist of foreign governments. This we can initiate with our neighbor countries and develop step by step with the experience we are getting. Tourism Industry is a large industry. As Sri Lankans we have achieved some. At the present tourism industry in Sri Lanka give a significant support to our economy. However we have a long way to go. There are so many things to achieve. So let's 'Get the Good 'of it and walk to towards the success.
