Law and Leadership Institute – Carl Smallwood was the founding board president of LLI, an Ohio program that identifies promising youth from disadvantaged neighborhoods and grooms them to be future leaders in the legal profession. He now serves as an emeritus member of the LLI Board of Directors. John Mercer Langston Bar Association - Janay Stevens serves as the chair of the organization’s mentoring committee. JMLBA is Columbus, Ohio’s affiliate member of the National Bar Association, whose purpose is to be a facilitator for excellence within the legal profession while also encouraging community service for those in need. Resurrecting Lives Foundation – Eve Stratton serves on the board of advisors of this national foundation that coordinates and advocates for the successful transition to a post-military career and life for Veterans with Traumatic Brain Injury. Eve also serves as the president of Operation Legal Help Ohio, an organization that helps veterans avoid homelessness, remove barriers to employment, and protect their physical, mental and financial health. Asian Pacific American Bar Association of Pennsylvania - Rich Ting serves as the corresponding secretary for APABA-PA, and as a commissioner on the Pennsylvania Governor’s Advisory Commission on Asian Pacific American Affairs. He is also a member of the Allegheny County Bar Association’s Asian Attorneys Committee and its Committee for Diversity and Inclusion. Japan-America Society of Central Ohio - Tony Weis serves as the president-elect of JASCO, an association of Americans and Japanese who desire to bring the Japanese and American communities together, promote goodwill through the sharing of knowledge about Japan, and provide a forum for informed discussion regarding the Japan-U.S. relationship. 27
