Annual Women’s Summit
Attorneys from all seven offices gathered at YWCA Col.umbus on
January 12, 2018 for Vorys’ Annual Women’s Summit. This year,
the focus of the summit was leadership – what it means to be an
authentic leader within the firm and in our communities, as well
as the many opportunities for women to demonstrate positive
leadership each day. The summit kicked off with remarks from
the firm’s new managing partner, Michael Martz, who shared his
perspectives on leadership, as well as diversity, inclusion and
innovation. The group then participated in a leadership through
design thinking workshop focused on opportunities for the firm
related to talent retention, inclusion and innovation. The summit
wrapped up with a panel of women from across the firm who
shared their unique perspectives on leadership and experiences
as leaders both inside and outside the firm.
Following the summit, in conjunction with the firm’s Diversity &
Inclusion Committee, the Women’s Network provided gender
equity recommendations to firm leadership for consideration
and implementation, including enhancements to firm policies
for alternative work schedules, flexible work arrangements, parental leave and the firm’s attorney
mentorship program. Many of these recommendations have either been implemented or are currently
under review for implementation in the near future.
