Vorys Women’s Network & Gender Equity Gender Equity in the Legal Industry Vorys has participated in a series of community events this year, along with other area law firms and in- house attorneys, designed to promote gender equity in the legal industry. Vorys hosted the next event, focused on engaging men in the gender equity discussion, in our Columbus office in September 2018. Vorys Gender Equity Conversations This fall, Vorys will host its own small-group conversations on gender equity in each of our seven offices, which are designed to: • • • Facilitate meaningful discussion and problem-solving around gender equity Strengthen relationships and understanding on issues related to gender equity Educate all attorneys about the mission and efforts of the Vorys Women’s Network and empower them to contribute to such efforts throughout the firm Recently, a small group of individuals from our Columbus office participated in a discussion about the findings from the Ruling Our eXperiences (ROX) Girls’ Index and how Vorys can help cultivate pathways to success and leadership for women in our firm and communities. the Columbus Commitment In September 2018, Vorys signed The Columbus Commitment, a pledge that asks organizations to commit to learn about the gender pay gap, understand how race and other factors may create even larger disparities and to take action to build awareness of the unique challenges facing women in the workplace. While the pledge is inspired by our Columbus community, our efforts and commitment apply firm-wide.
