VMA decided they would need to do more . Money is always an issue , so David Romeo , Miller Leaman , a VMA
Board Member in 2011 , suggested a golf tournament . The Board approved . It was named the Lou Fifer Education Fund Golf Tournament , after Lou Fifer , the VMA founder , who believed in America , capitalism , free enterprise , and funding for yourself . The Tournament supports the “ We Make It Here !” Education

Campaign , which is the VMA manufacturing awareness program targeting students 6 to 26 years old .
LPGA Golf Course has hosted the event since its inception . It has grown into both the LPGA Jones and Hills courses . This event engages almost every one of our 208 corporate VMA members . They provide sponsors , vendors , players , door prizes ( almost everybody wins a prize ), goody bag items and volunteers . Teledyne Oil and Gas as been the Title Sponsor since 2012 . Boston Market has been the lunch sponsor since the beginning . There are vendors at almost each hole providing games , food , drinks and all kinds of fun , in addition to the golf .
