chocolate eggs to Barnardo’s
Scotland’s Disability Service
in Edinburgh. This is the first
time they have supported the
service, which provides short
break care to children with
disabilities. Here’s to a long
and fruitful relationship!

Give and gain
Portsmouth University
students, led by Jasmine
Jenkins, held a scrumptious
three course charity dinner
at Chimes restaurant raising
£120. In Lincolnshire,
students at Boston College
held a cake sale to raise funds
for Barnardo’s as part of their
enterprise course. Student
Karen Anderson explained:
‘We chose Barnardo’s to
benefit from our fundraiser
because we believe the
charity does a lot to help the
community by protecting
children across the UK. We
know that every contribution
helps and it has really boosted
morale within the group.’
The Halifax Building Society
in Heswall took part in a Give
and gain fortnight in our
Heswall store. Bank employees
– including the bank manager
– each spent a day of their time
helping in the shop.
The National Council for Old
Boys and Girls is looking
for new members – anyone
who has at one time been
looked after or supported by
Barnardo’s – no matter what
your age. Activities include
fundraising, giving talks,
helping out at sports events
and even making films – as
well as looking out for the
interests of the children and
young people we work with.

In Derby, we’ve joined forces
with arts organisations to give
children in care the chance to
experience live performance,
film and workshops in the
city. The Plus One scheme
asks people buying tickets for
shows to buy an extra ticket to
donate to children in care and
fostered children.
