My overall experince here was great I came a little late here to this job, but I been to some of the sites like The Share Food Program. It was a great experience helping out, making boxes putting veggies and fruits to put in the boxes to give to people that need it, they feed about 500,000 people every month. It was a great way to give back to the community. Also you feel great doing it.
The other site I've been to was Career Wardrobe, most of the time we were listening to what they do and how they helped lots of women to be confident in a interview. They dont only have suits but they have casual clothes too. Most of the clothes in the shop are donated.
Last but not least PhillyCam was also great. The staff showed us what they offer to young people. They teach people how to know more about cameras and editing and using media as a source to express themselves. They also have their own T.V channel that anybody can be on. They also have an art program there so that their work can be on T.V.
Working in all these places was a great experince and taught me alot about volunteer work and about networking. Most people volunteer at a company/position involving their interest and career so when you begin volunteering you learn more about that company, and can actually gain experince and may qualify for a position at the commpany.
Not enough youth are exposed to these opportunities, that is why I am so happy to be apart of this initiative to get more youth involved in their communities.
