Mrs . McLelland ’ s 1st grade celebrated : Talk Like a Pirate Day on September 19 . They turned our classroom into a Pirate Ship ! It was filled with Pirate-themed centers , and even a pirate breakout box ! Students had to work in team to solve riddles and challenges to open different locks and find the hidden treasure ! They found the treasure which included pirate eye patches , gems , telescopes , pirate mustaches , Cap ’ n Crunch cereal , and Pirate Booty popcorn .
There is lots of hands-on learning on our kindergarten hill . There were " Tea " Parties with ties to celebrate the letter " T " and then baking and eating bread after reading The Little Red Hen and studying farm animals . What fun ways to grow hearts & minds .
