The last time I received a phone call from Floyd, I was in the middle of judging the Top Dog event for the Salt Lake Terrier Assoc. and had to let it go to voicemail. He left a message thanking the ADBA for running his business card in the August 2025 issue of the Gazette. I called him back when I was finished judging; it was one of the last times I heard his voice...
I had the honor of meeting Floyd when I attended the ADBA Nationals hosted by the Cajun Country K-9 Club in 1995. I was just a young pup back then( as my“ Uncle” Gary Hammonds would say). Floyd and I had our first picture taken together at that show. The day we had our last picture taken was with his wife, Norma, October 13, 2023, in Louisiana.
That weekend, I learned the story of how Norma and Floyd met, when they started dating, and so many things they had endured together. I always cherish those“ love stories” and admire the relationships that stand the test of time.
Floyd was special to each and every one of us in our dog family. We all have memories that we will hold near and dear, forever.
To his very last day, he was as game as they come. He never complained and always made sure to make every person he encountered feel important.
When I heard of Floyd’ s passing, and learned that the Top Ranked Champion of 2025 was a double bred Boudreaux dog, I had a vision for the cover. Floyd will always be looking down on us... until we meet again.
My thoughts and prayers are with the entire Boudreaux family.
