As I sit here working on the magazine , my heart is full yet aches at the same time . I knew this would be a difficult issue to publish ...
I started working for the ADBA when I was 18 years old . Renee witnessed every single one of my milestones - the ups and downs , the twists , and turns - quite the roller coaster ride . But she ( and the other Greenwood ’ s ) kept me grounded , mentored me , helped me develop a “ never give up ” attitude , a very strong work ethic and extremely thick skin .
The Greenwood family has deeply influenced the woman I am today . They ’ ve accepted me as one of their own and I will be forever grateful to them for that .
I remember countless “ magazine ” nights I would be burning the midnight oil . Renee would come into my office from her house and visit with me , telling me stories about her life growing up , when she met Ralph , the details of their wedding day , the dogs , the Greenwood kids , etc . Then she ’ d tease me and tell me , “ You know what you get when you work your fingers to the bone ... boney fingers !” Then she ’ d say , “ Well , I ’ ll let you get back to work .” I never minded the interruption . I cherished every single story and every single moment I got to spend with her .
Renee would help proofread articles whenever she was able ; she paid such close attention to detail . After each magazine went to print , she would read it cover to cover and tell us what a great job we did . That always made me feel so pleased because all I wanted to do was make her proud . After all , this was her dream .
I ’ m extremely honored to carry on the tradition of not only publishing a quality magazine for our readers but to continue promoting the ADBA and the APBT to the fraternity , worldwide .
Renee devoted everything to the ADBA . This was her life , her passion , and she worked until one of her very last days . I have the utmost respect for her and will miss her immensely .
