Day 0 . Saturday 4 th
We ( Finlays ) arrived at the Clack Clack Caravan Park mid Saturday afternoon , Strahans were already there having driven as far as the Hume Weir yesterday . We set up and lit the fire in the camp supplied fire pit . Mark & Helen arrived just on dark . They are brand new members and were looking forward to their first “ adventure ” with the club even though it was a week of fencing .
We watched them putting up their brand new slide on camper in the dark . It went up very easily .
Day 1 . Sunday 5 th
A cold and frosty start to the day although bright sunshine . Mark came over and told us that Helen had been sick for most of the night and they would have to go home . So we watched them pack up . property we would be working on tomorrow . He showed us two fences that had been burnt out ( and he had lost almost all of his fences ). Both sides along a very steep creek “ ravine ” that was fenced off to keep the cattle out especially during calving ( now ). The “ ravine was steep but the fences were on the relatively flat , sloping ground beside it . The other was at the back of a nearby small pine plantation and was quite steep and difficult .
Still bright sunshine so we set of to look at the Bluff Falls as all the recent rain should mean they would be running well . Unfortunately the road into the Nat Park / Falls was closed . So we went back to camp and an evening by the fire .
Allan arrived mid afternoon and Bob & Sheena shortly after that .
Helen came good after a couple of days at home and then had a Corona virus test that came back negative , so all is well that ends well . They will have to have their first Club “ adventure ” another time .
Strahans & us met Kath & Forrest from the Uniting Church Bushfire Emergency Fencing Group at Cudgewa Football ground and they took us of to meet John the farmer whose
