The Ironbark award

SInce 1997
The Ironbark Award was instituted in 1997 by Arch Grant , the founding President of the Pajero 4WD Club of Victoria . It is an annual award giving recognition to those members who serve the club with dedication over many years .
The award
The name Ironbark was chosen , as it is an Australian native tree that represents toughness and longevity . A characteristic of the recipient . The shield is made from a piece of Ironbark that was recycled from a warehouse on Sydney Harbour . In the centre , it has painted on it the leaf , flower and fruit of the Red Ironbark Mugga Eucalyptus ‘ Siderocylon ’. It is surrounded by a series of small brass plaques on which each recipient ’ s name is inscribed . Smaller replica shields were made from the remainder of the timber and one is given to the award winner for each year . nomInaTIonS & SelecTIon
Any club member can submit a nomination . The only criteria is the nominated person must be a club member that has served the club continuously in some capacity for at least five years . There is a selection panel made up of three people . The Award Panel consists of : A nominated past winner ( by current committee ); The current club president ; and The preceding year ’ s winner .
