Avery Dennison ’ s Intelligent Labels in India
At the recent SmartCard Expo in Bengaluru that took place from 16 to 18 December 2021 , Avery Dennison displayed its intelligent label solutions . At the event , which took place after a gap of two years , the company ’ s manager for Marketing Communications for South Asia , Prabhsharan Kaur said that the ‘ Intelligent Labels ’ showcased at the expo , are used in diverse industries , from retail and food to healthcare , entertainment , libraries , and aviation . She added , “ Intelligent labels are an efficient method of tracking and tracing inventories , they make the supply chain more efficient and serve the customers in a better manner through RFID tracking systems .” Intelligent or ‘ smart labels ’ inlaid with Radio Frequency Identification ( RFID ) technology are one of the active and intelligent packaging solutions that can prevent the counterfeiting of products and also help in their efficient logistics . As Indian society intensifies its needs for the precise identification and movement of products throughout the supply chain , the infrastructure for reading RFID is gaining ground . RFID tags and labels are visible on our car windshields , on food , pharma , and luxury product packaging , and in our baggage tags for air travel .
Avery Dennison offers RFID inlays as well as technical , training , and testing resources at its demonstrations lab in Pune in India where it has advanced research and testing capabilities , and experienced engineering resources for its comprehensive Smartrac solutions . The global company has tie-ups with many of the best-in-class chip and reader manufacturers , label and tag converters , and systems integrators . Most of the company ’ s inlays feature its patented Smart- Face Technology , one of the most sustainable solutions that reduce a brand ’ s environmental impact .
Avery Dennison Corporation claims it ’ s the first and only pre-qualified intelligent label provider to receive the How2Recycle label for its RFID paper hang tags . The qualification is based on How2Recycle ’ s parameters of applicable laws , collection ( access to recycling ), transportation ( MRF package flow ), reprocessing ( technical recyclability ), and end markets . The company is currently developing UHF and HF RFID solutions , designed for inventory management , loss prevention , and enhancing consumer engagement .

It launched its new AD Midas Flagtag EM4425 DF tag for metal surfaces , combining UHF and NFC functionality for superior tracking performance coupled with enhanced consumer engagement capabilities . In December 2021 , the company launched its AD TT Sensor Plus 2 BLE , an active temperature-logging sensor that utilizes Bluetooth and Near Field Communication technologies .
Avery Dennison also sponsored and presented its active label solutions in the Smart Packaging Solutions for India and South Asia virtual conference held in March 2021 . The day-long event attracted food , alcobev , and pharma packaging professionals and converters . The event was a part of a global AIPIA series organized jointly by Noida-based IppStar and the Active and Intelligent Packaging Industry Association based in Amsterdam . z
