stronger, smoother, and required less maintenance compared to other braided lines on the market. Casey quickly transitioned this prototype to a finished product and formed the company Woody-Wire Bowfishing Braid.

When you spool up a spincast reel with Woody-Wire Bowfishing Braid there are a few simple things to remember to ensure you receive all of the line’s benefits. First, it’s important to tie a very secure knot on the reel’s arbor (Arbor Knot), so the line doesn’t slip on the reel. Next, spool the line on wet. This can be accom-plished by putting the spool of line in water and reel up the wet line until the arbor is full.

One roll of Woody-Wire will fill any of the common spincast reels used for bowfishing like those offered by Muzzy, Zebco and Shakespeare.

Casey also wants his customers to know, “It is not necessary to use a silicone spray with Woody Wire, unlike other bowfishing lines. It doesn’t hurt the line if you use spray, it’s just not necessary for effective shooting”. This is another advantage when using Woody-Wire.

Bowfishing is a great sport due to the variety of legal species available throughout the world

and Casey recommends his line for, “Everything from Shad to Gator Gar [alligator gar], this line will bring them into the boat”. Personally, the Carpzilla Bow-fishing team has shot thousands of fish with Woody-Wire, ranging from tiny shad, to giant common carp. We’ve also had great success taking gar, suckers, bowfin, quillback, silver carp, bighead carp, and freshwater drum and we all agree with

Casey’s claim.

Casey is now creating additional styles of braided lines

to address the needs of all bow-fishers by including a braided Dacron line that is specifically designed for retriever style bottle reels like the AMS and Cajun offerings. Casey has confirmed that the new line will be released for the 2015 spring bowfishing season.

Additional information can be found on the Woody-Wire website, as well as the Woody-Wire Facebook page. Pricing for his

white spincast line is currently $13.99 per 100-foot spool.

Woody-Wire is expecting their new braided Dacron lines for retriever style reels to be a hit. Expect to see these lines hitting the shelves in time for the 2015 bowfishing season.
