THE WILD FAMILY MUSIC “EMPTY PROMISES” (A sample of lyrics from “Empty Promises,” the single from The Wild Family’s debut EP, written by Graham Young from personal experiences.) “Life stolen right from my hands You had me caring and I didn’t stand a chance And I left my love down at your feet And it ruined me, it ruined me Now you’re alone and I’m alone So what the hell are we doing And your alone and I’m alone So what the hell are we proving” soundtrack.” He said he went through some “bad music decisions” until discovering The Beatles in middle school when his tastes changed. just comes along with it. After you’ve written the songs, you want them to be heard. I play guitar, drum kit, and a bit of piano here and there,” Jake said. “My parents aren’t very musically inclined, although they can both sort of sing. Aside from my parents, Uncle Chuck was the man. He introduced my brother and me to most of the music we listened to throughout high school.” Band members said their favorite part of being performers is “the actual experience of playing the music in different spaces, venues, areas, etc.” Jake said the performing element never really was a driving force, rather “the unexplainable need to just be the best we possibly could be, and that meant a lot of practice and performance. Later on, I personally discovered the reward that came from writing songs, and that’s what I really love to do. It’s the most satisfying way of expressing myself. Performing Jake added, that “Lately I’ve been pretty inspired to create something, and I have a feeling any material from this point on or at least in the near future will have a little bit more depth and meaning. I’d say probably for every 50 hours spent trying to write, I’ll get maybe one song I’m satisfied with. I don’t think I have a particular type of genre I really love to write. I try not to lock myself in with that. I just prefer to write the music that feels right at the time.” Jake said “The Wild Family” has played quite a few local shows in the past year, and a few out of state. “We’ve done a lot of great venues: Schubas, Metro, Subterannean, SPACE, all the good ones. We are hopefully going to get down to SXSW and possibly go on an east coast tour, and probably head down to Nashville at some point. “Up to this point we have only self-released, which has been pretty cool,” said Jake, adding that it “would be great to get on a label just to get some support in distribution and press and all that jazz. Right now we are currently being managed by Movers&Shakers management team. It’s been great to work with them thus far and we look forward to what lies ahead.” f Sharon Sperling Elsner Realty Work with an agent who cares… Sharon was the recipient of the 2013 Quality Service Award.
