September 18, 2016 Twenty - Fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time Views From The Pews 2 Did You Know? Elizabeth writes: “Fr. Mike, Please know that many of us are thankful that the church has an open policy with regards to the accounting of the parish’s money. We appreciate the fact that you and the pastoral staff print the current weekly status and where we are to the budgetary needs of the parish. I have watched for years someone who chooses to remain anonymous question you about what you plan to do about the shortfalls that inevitably happen every now and then. My feelings have reached a point of frustration and anger. I am going to address it from my own viewpoint as a fellow parishioner. Dear Sir/Madam: I’m on the Finance Board and I am well aware of just how conscious Father Mike and the staff are about being good stewards of the parish’s funds. Not one expenditure is taken lightly. Not one. If you are truly concerned about the finances of this parish, I encourage you to meet with Father Mike. I can guarantee he will answer in a candid and forthright way. I encourage you to get more involved in this beautiful parish. We are blessed. We are so blessed to have the leadership that we do. We are blessed to have the parishioners that we do. We are blessed that, in times of struggle, we come together and get the job done. So please, before you blithely and without thought question our priest about what he plans to do about our financial situation, I encourage you to come to him with a plan of action. Be part of the solution. Help find a solution and I can guarantee that if you meet with Fr. Mike, you will be met with an open mind and an open heart.” “Thank you for your eloquent defense of me. I hope ‘Anonymous’ follows-up on your excellent advice. Please forgive me for editing your beautiful letter, but I could not fit all of it in the bulletin.” Fr. Mike In a recent national poll, only 13% of those who have left the Catholic Church say they are likely to return. Fr.
