24th Sunday in Ordinary Time
Views From The Pews
Anonymous #1 writes, “The pope says we
should help all those refugees in Europe.
How can we help?”
“Pope Francis was speaking
specifically to European Catholics. He recommends each
parish, religious community, monastery and sanctuary in
Europe shelter at least one refugee family. If you have a
recommendation on how we at VOL might help, please
get in touch with me.”
Anonymous #2 writes, “I have a lung problem and can
only walk short distances. Recently, I ran out of breath
coming back from the restroom in church. When this
happens I need to sit immediately. Please put some chairs
in the lobby of church.”
“Thanks for the suggestion. We will.”
Cassie writes, “I loved the young priest’s homily to the
kids. I don’t exactly remember what he said but his
personality is great. He connects with children. He is
filled with spirit.”
“The ‘young priest’ is not yet a priest. He is a
transitional deacon, Dc. Paul Clark. He is scheduled to
be ordained a priest next June. On behalf of Dc. Paul,
thanks for the compliments. I echo what you say.”
Deana says, “I loved your homily on our needing to be
astonished about all God gives us.
I have a
recommendation.
Can you put it on the church
Facebook? It would be good for others to hear what you
said.”
“I will put a synopsis of it on Facebook.
Thanks for the suggestion and for the compliment.”

Did You Know?
Priests are required by Church Law (Canon 276) to
pray the “Liturgy of the Hours” every day. We are
required to pray the following: Office of Readings,
Morning Prayer, Daily Prayer, Evening Prayer and Night
Prayer. The intent is for some priest, somewhere in the
world, to be praying for the people of the world every
minute of every day.

-reflect on our service in the mass
-review the ways in which we help others to enter the

40 Days for Life
You are invited to get involved in the 40 Days for Life
New Orleans campaign September 23 through November
1, 2015. 40 Days for Life is a national pro-life campaign
that consists of 40 days of prayer, fasting, and community
outreach for an end to abor tion. We will pr ay the
“Prayer to End Abortion” during this campaign at the end of
each mass celebrated here at Visitation. You may also pickup a copy of the prayer card from the vestibule of the
Church to take home.
In our hometown, there will be a constant peaceful and
prayerful vigil outside of Louisiana’s largest abortion
facility, Causeway Medical
Center, at 3044 Ridgelake
Drive in Metairie near Lakeside
Mall. Our parish has signed up
to keep a prayerful vigil at the
abortion facility on Tuesday,
October 13, 2015. We need 2
people per hour to fill the day
from 7a.m. – 7p.m. Please
contact Anna A. Jouandot,
Respect Life Coordinato r, at
340-3319 or [email protected]
if you can sign up on this day
for one hour of prayer time in
front of the abortion facility.
