Did You Know?

Maria says, “Thank you to all the many
volunteers who contributed so mightily
to make the Louisiana Mission of Mercy
(LaMOM) such a fabulous success.
We were able to give free dental care to 1,367 patients.
One hundred sixty-seven of them actually returned to
get another treatment. So, in all, we were able to provide
more than 1500 treatments. We gave away $1,067,760.35
of free dental care in a single weekend.”
“Maria is Maria Burmaster, a member of our parish
who, among other things, is the keyboardist and a lead
singer in SoulSpirit, the band for out Sunday night
Mass. Maria and her sister, Valerie Hemphill, who also
sings in SoulSpirit, own Barataria Dental on Barataria
Blvd. They and hundreds of dentists, hygienists and
dental office workers from across the state provided this
fabulous ministry last weekend at the Alario Center.
They were joined by more than 1,000 other volunteers,
including many from VOL.
If you see Maria, who chaired the event, Valerie, or
any of the other volunteers, give them a big hug. What
they did was loving and spectacular.”

Patrice was one of the many recipients of the free dental
care provided last weekend by LAMOM. Patrice writes,
“I’m truly grateful for your loving acts of kindness. The
entire experience was professional and the customer
service deserves an A+.

Visitation of Our Lady Parish has adopted October 19, to
keep vigil outside of the Planned Parenthood Facility, 46365
Claiborne Avenue, New Orleans. We invite you to come
out with us on this day to the site and keep a prayerful vigil.
