Thirty - First Sunday in Ordinary Time
Views From The Pews
Did You Know?
Several of you ask, “Was the BBQ Cook
off successful?”
“We don’t have financials yet, but
the food was great. My goals this year
were to provide good food, fun for families and to
financially break even. My first two goals were certainly
met. Maybe I can tell you next weekend whether the
financial goal was met. If we break even, we’ll try to do
it again next year.
Thanks belong to the co-chairs, Courtney and
Raymond Bond and Jennifer and Warren Smith. Let’s
give a shout out as well to the committee members:
Mark and Traci Sanderson, Melissa and Clay Bourg and
Duane Foret. Overland Martial Arts and Karen’s Voice
Studio deserve our thanks also.
By the way, Courtney and Raymond, Mark and
Traci, and Clay and Melissa are also recent Cajun Fest
chairs. God bless them abundantly. They go above and
beyond in a spectacular way.”
Art writes, “Your homily, Father Mike, on our new
substance abuse ministry was excellent. I always get a
great deal out of you telling us your personal stories. Did
you get the volunteers you were asking for?”
“Thank you for the compliment and, yes, we got 40
parishioners to sign up as volunteers. That far exceeded
my expectations.”

Addiction
The first VOL SAM meeting will be
held Tuesday, November 15th in the
Church Chapel. SAM is a parish-based
ministry that is designed to provide a
safe, confidential place for people
touched by addiction to share their
personal experiences with others. SAM provides general
educational information about addiction through
professionals in this field. SAM’s mission is to offer help,
healing, hope, and support to anyone who are afflicted
with or affected by addictions. Our mission's goal is to
help these individuals re-connect with self, loved ones,
and God. We are available to people of all faiths. The
group does not provide professional diagnosis, therapy,
counseling or treatment; that is left to the professionals.
We do however provide a list of referrals of local
addiction facilities and professionals that we have already
had come speak at our group meetings.
Ordinations to the priesthood have jumped almost 20%
over the past four years. We had 457 in 2012, 494 in
2013, 515 in 2014 and 548 last year. Praise God!
