Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe
2
Did You Know?
Views From The Pews
We have three notes about Father Damian
celebrating our 8 am Mass this past
weekend. Here is one of them.
Agnes writes, “I was sure glad to see Father
Damian. He gives a good homily and he is funny. Where
is he these days. If he said where he is I missed it and I
would like to know.”
“Father Damian has a doctorate in literature.
He is teaching seminarians at St. Ben’s on the North
Shore.”
Anonymous writes, “ I heard from someone that Pope
Francis is opposed to the death penalty. I like him a lot
and I hope what I heard is not true.”
“It is true. However, it is not a new position for
a pope. For a long, long time the Church has declared
that the death penalty should be used only if there is
absolutely no other way to protect society from a killer.
Pope Francis has gone one step further. He is
not only opposed to the death penalty, he has called for
an END to the death penalty and he has recommended
that Christians fight to improve poor prison conditions
and, as well, fight to end life imprisonment.”
A national poll indicates that the biggest reason
Catholics leave the Church is that they believe their
“spiritual needs are not being met.”
If any of you believe I am not meeting your spiritual
needs, please get in touch. You can reach me at the office
(347-2203) or on my home phone (347-0606).

Today we celebrate the Solemnity of Christ the
King. This is the end of the liturgical year and
signals the start of a new year. This reminds us that
we have another chance to make Christ the King of
our life. This Advent and liturgical year let’s really
carve out space for our King. Give him more than a
manger. Let him have your whole life.

The church office
will be closed
November 27th & 28th
in celebration
of Thanksgiving.

Book of the Dead
During
the
month
of
November we will continue to
remember our deceased in a
special way. A Book of the Dead
is accessible in the vestibule for parishioners to write the
names of beloved deceased relatives for whom they would
like us to pray. The book will be brought up at the
offertory procession and placed on a small table in front of
the altar for the duration of Mass. After Mass, it will be
returned to the podium in the vestibule for continued use.
Altar Flowers
The flowers that beautify the altar this
weekend were donated in memory of:
Shannon & Bobby Duplantis
