Did You Know?
Anonymous writes, “I enjoyed having
Father Paul say mass for us this
weekend. He is so joyous. Were you
out of town?”
“I agree with you. Father Paul celebrates a joyful
Mass. He does because he is a joyful person.
Yes, I was out of town.
I was in Lacombe
participating in a retreat for 19 engaged couples.”
Anonymous writes, “Our red ink hole gets worse every
weekend. Am I the only one worried that you are not
doing anything about it?”
“I suspect there may be others worried about the
downturn in our collections, but you are the only person
from whom I have heard. I am working on possible
expense cuts and on securing money from another
source. I will let you know the details when I am
finished.”

Here is the skinny on why Cardinal Jorge Bergoglio
chose the name Francis when he was elected pope.
Cardinal Bergoglio was seated next to a good friend, the
Cardinal Emeritus of Sao Paolo. When the final vote
reached two-thirds for Cardinal Bergoglio, electing him as
pope, his friend gave him a hug, kissed him and
whispered, ‘Don’t forget the poor.’ The newly elected
pope immediately thought of St. Francis of Assisi. Pope
Francis says that is why he chose his name as pope.

Book of the Dead
During the month of November
we are remembering our deceased
in a special way. A Book of the
Dead will be accessible each
weekend in the vestibule for parishioners to write the names
of beloved deceased relatives for whom they would like us
to pray. The book will be brought up at the offertory
procession and placed on a small table in front of the altar
for the duration of Mass. After Mass, it will be returned to
the podium in the vestibule for continued use.

The priests of the West Bank Deanery of the
Archdiocese will hold 3 communal penance services
during the Advent season to help lead God’s people to
“prepare the way of the Lord” by the worthy
reception of the Sacrament of Penance.
All Catholics are encouraged to attend one of these
Advent Penance Services and avail themselves of the
grace of this wonderful sacrament of renewal and
reconciliation in preparation for the birth of our
Savior.
