Thirty-Third Sunday in Ordinary Time
Views From The Pews
2
Did You Know?
Several of you wrote to me about a
“View” last week from Anonymous.
Anonymous wrote, “If you keep doing
liberal homilies I will be taking myself to
another church.” Anonymous was responding to a homily
in which I said I believe lots of our politicians are like
the Pharisees. They reject everyone who does not believe
the way they believe.
Here is one of the responses. It is from Dorothy. She
writes, “The man who criticized your homily last must
have been only half awake. You didn’t criticize just
Republicans. You criticized both sides of the fence for
being more Democrat or Republican than Christian.”
“Thank you.”

New Parish App Coming Soon!
In the coming weeks VOL will launch
its own app for iPhone and Android smart
phones. This will allow us to better
communicate with you throughout the
week and keep you updated with relevant
parish news or updates. The app is very
well designed and very intuitive. It will be a great resource
for parishioners by providing daily Mass readings, Catholic
news and prayers, convenient prayer and Confession
reminders, our bulletins and more.
We hope for our new app to be a tool for fostering
stronger parish life at VISITATION OF OUR LADY and
better engaging the New Evangelization. Please watch in
the coming weeks for our official launch announcement.
The divide between the ideologies of Democrats and
Republicans is more pronounced than ever before. In
1994, 64% of Republicans were more conservative than
the median Democrat. Today, the number is 95 percent.
In 1994, 70% of Democrats were more liberal than the
median Republican. In 2017, the number is 97 percent.

their personal experiences with others. SAM provides
general educational information about addiction through
professionals in this field and is open to people of all faiths.
The ministry is open to both those afflicted with or
affected by substance addiction. For more info contact
Deacon Jerry Labadot at 495-5820.
Book of the Dead
During the month of November we
will remember our deceased in a
special way. A Book of the Dead will
be accessible in the vestibule for parishioners to write the
names of beloved deceased relatives for whom they would
like us to pray.
The book will be brought up during the offertory
procession and placed on a small table in front of the altar
for the duration of Mass. After Mass, it will be returned to
the podium in the vestibule for continued use.
You are welcome to add the names of your deceased
loved ones in the Book of the Dead before Masses.
