Did You Know?
Ed writes, “Do you have final figures yet
on the BBQ Cook Off?”
“Yes. Our profit is approximately
$11,200. That’s plenty enough to try it
again next year. Our profit goal next year is $20,000.”
Thirty - five percent of the priests ordained in America
this year say they have a relative who is a priest or a
religious sister or brother.
Fr. Mike
Many of you have compliments about my homily on
heaven.
Joy writes, “I loved your homily on heaven. You bring it
to life. You have inspired me to try harder to get there.
I do not believe I am cutting the mustard yet.”
“You can do it. God’s mercy is infinitely deep. He is
ALWAYS there to help us.”
Tom asks, “Do you have any new information on fixing
the pews in church.”
“We have agreed on a bid. We’ll probably begin
near the end of the year or shortly thereafter. We’ll do it
over three years, approximately one-third of the pews
each year.
For those of you not familiar with the project, here in
a nutshell is what we plan to do. Replace the cushions
on the kneelers. They are worn out from use. We also
plan to move the pews to provide a little extra space
between the edge of the seat of one pew and the back of
the seat of the pew in front of it. For some reason, our
pews have two fewer inches of space than is normal and
some of our parishioners find that uncomfortable.“

Book of the Dead
For the entire month of
November we are remembering our
deceased in a special way. A Book
of the Dead will be accessible each weekend in the
vestibule for parishioners to write the names of beloved
deceased relatives for whom they would like us to pray.
The book will be brought up at the offertory procession and
placed on a small table in front of the altar for the duration
of Mass. After Mass, it will be returned to the podium in
the vestibule for continued use.
