May 8, 2016 The Ascension of the Lord Views From The Pews 2 Did You Know? Zeke asks, “Do you have the Cajun Fest numbers yet?” “We are still waiting for a few bills to come in, but we are close to having final numbers. Both our gross and our net are new RECORDS. At $319,000, our gross is 7.4% greater than our previous record. Our net (or profit) is $206,020.16. That’s 15% higher than our previous record. I always hope that our profit will at least be 50% of the gross. This year it was 64.6%. That shows that our festival chairs, Christian and John Cassreino and Courtney and Raymond Bond, did an excellent job keeping down expenses. If you see John, Christian, Raymond or Courtney please give each of them a hug and a big thanks. They sure deserve it.” A recent national poll says “highly religious” people are substantially more likely to be “volunteers” than are people who are “not highly religious.” VOLUNTEERED Not highly religious Highly religious 25% 45% What I find disturbing is that more than half of Americans do not volunteer, even though Jesus insist that we serve.
